Dubai is all set to welcome its latest free zone, Expo City, the pioneering legacy plan of Expo 2020 Dubai. The free zone will be home to many prominent local and international companies and will offer numerous opportunities for businesses from diverse sectors.
According to Ahmed Al Khatib, chief development and delivery officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, “Expo City is already seeing good demand from a range of commercial tenants. We are in the midst of a careful selection process to ensure that all tenants and partners in Dubai are part of the growth and values promoted through Expo 2020. We are delighted that Expo 2020 partners Siemens and DP World are committed to relocating to Expo City, and the process has already started.”
Expo City will play a key role in the development of Dubai as an international centre for innovation and economic growth and it will support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It aims to be an independent and competitive free zone, for which new regulations are being developed.
“Expo City Dubai represents the most beautiful ambitions of Dubai. It will be an environmentally-friendly city, one friendly to families, to the economy, and to future generations,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Expo City Dubai will officially commence its operations in the month of October, and it will retain a major portion of the infrastructure of Expo 2020 Dubai. Some of the major features that will be retained include Al Wasl Plaza, the three thematic pavilions (Alif, Terra and Opportunity), the Women’s and Vision pavilions as well as Surreal, Garden in the Sky and all the low-rise building within the thematic districts.
The authorities have invited entities interested in starting their operations in the free zone; they can submit their interest on Expo City Dubai’s website.
